TransportiCA Reporting on the 8th annual Silicon Valley Bike Summit

Amidst numerous high-profile state and regional active transportation measures, 2018’s summit is quickly shaping-up to be the major bellwether policy conference.

SACRAMENTO, Calif.–With its mission to advance systems thinking and the Triple-Bottom Line, the California Green Academy (“CalGreen”) is excited to be reporting on the eighth annual Silicon Valley Bike Summit (“Summit”), jointly hosted by the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition (“SVBC”) and the Mineta Transportation Institute (“MTI”). Occurring late-August, the Summit is quickly becoming one of the state’s premier conferences for bicycling, and this year’s looks to be an exceptional event.

SVBC has always done an amazing job with the Summit. This year, having MTI hosting, and the amount of vital advocacy measures in the policy pipeline, the 2018 event appears unparalleled,” stated Greg Justice, CalGreen’s Chief Sustainability Officer, and Founder / Editor of TransportiCA.

Such policies include the recent passage of Proposition 69 and Regional Measure 3, possible efforts to protect Senate Bill 1 funding and approve a new ½-cent transportation sales tax measure in San Mateo County, and the recent adoption of “Toward An Active California”–the State’s new bicycle plan.

The Summit takes place Wednesday, 22 August, from 09:00-18:00, and at San Jose State’s Student Union. Advanced registration is highly encouraged, but will also be available at the Summit’s start.

Founded in May 2015, TransportiCA is CalGreen’s flagship program, focusing on the education and promotion of sustainable transportation: “Mobility meeting the Triple-Bottom Line.” You can visit TransportiCA online, and follow on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
