TransportiCA and Island Press Launch the "Transformational Speaker Series"
New monthly webinar focuses on sustainable transportation and urban mobility, bringing the greatest minds of today to new audiences, all at no charge.
SACRAMENTO, Calif.–With its mission to advance systems thinking and the Triple-Bottom Line, the California Green Academy (“CalGreen”) is proud to partner with Island Press for its newest program, the “Transformational Speaker Series” (“Series”). Focusing on sustainable transportation, the Series will feature some of the greatest minds in sustainability, urban mobility, and innovative transportation.
The Series’ first speaker is law professor Ethan Elkind (below) of Berkeley and UCLA. Elkind has written extensively on transformational change in Los Angeles’ transit system–once the world’s largest streetcar structure, to the nation’s automobile capital, to its expansive light rail growth and emerging emphasis on multimodal mobility. From his bestselling-book Railtown, Elkind will discuss Los Angeles’ current transit transformation–spawned by multiple ballot measures, and the region’s overall mobility future, especially thanks to passage of 2016’s landmark Measure M.
The Series' inaugural webinar takes place Thursday, 26 July, from 11:00-12:00 PST (14:00-15:00 EST), streaming live at: https://usfca.zoom.us/j/171386246. (Registration not required.) You can follow the Series on Twitter and YouTube, and connect with Island Press on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Founded in May 2015, TransportiCA is the California Green Academy’s flagship program, focusing on the education and promotion of sustainable transportation: “Mobility meeting the Triple-Bottom Line."
